Severe Weather Threat: Scattered Storms Could Bring Damaging Winds, Hail, Isolated Tornadoes

There will be a threat of severe storms in much of the region with damaging winds, flash flooding, hail, and isolated tornadoes possible.

The storms are expected to develop in the mid-Atlantic and track east by late in the afternoon on Monday, June 26. (See the first image above from AccuWeather.com.)

Hail could be around 1 inch in diameter, the National Weather Service said in a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement issued early Monday morning.

"Localized flash flooding is also possible," the statement said.

It will be cloudy throughout the day on Monday with the high temperature generally around 80 degrees. Around an inch of rainfall is possible on Monday with locally higher amounts.

Tuesday, June 27 will see more showers with a new line of thunderstorms expected in the afternoon and evening with a high temperature in the mid-70s. About a half-inch of rainfall is possible.

Storms could return overnight into Wednesday morning, June 28, and then again mid-afternoon into early evening. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. The high temperature will generally be in the upper 70s.

Skies will. be partly sunny at times on Thursday, June 29 with about a 50-50 chance of more showers and a high temperature in the upper 70s.

A mix of sun and clouds is expected Friday, June 30, with just a slight chance of showers, and a high temperature around 80 degrees.
